13-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized after Los Alamos Bicycle Accident

LOS ALAMOS, CA (April 11, 2019) – A 13-year-old male bicyclist sustained injuries in a collision with a vehicle on April 10 in Los Alamos.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and CHP came to respond to a crash at 7:30. The incident occurred near the southbound onramp to Highway 101 at Highway 135.

The impact ejected the boy from his bike. Gruver added that the bicyclist suffered injuries. Moreover, a Calstar medical helicopter flew him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision. Meanwhile, Gruver added that the bicyclist didn’t wear a helmet during the collision.

The boy headed to Olga Reed Elementary School during the crash.

It is vital to never drive when drunk and to always be alert for pedestrians and bicyclists. This is especially true when you are driving in the city, especially when you are driving through a parking lot, a busy intersection, or residential area. An unforeseen accident can be avoided by following the traffic laws and being cautious of the road ahead. Such actions can also ensure the safety of everyone.
