12-Year-Old ATV Rider Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Stoddard Wells Road [Apple Valley, CA]

1 Killed and 1 Hospitalized in Apple Valley ATV Accident on Stoddard Wells Road

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (July 4, 2022) – Saturday morning, a 12-year-old ATV rider died in a hit-and-run crash on Stoddard Wells Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 9:00 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Stoddard Wells Road in the Stoddard Valley Off-Highway Recreation Area.
 
Reports revealed that an eastbound orange side-by-side UTV collided with a 2019 TaoTao ATV for still unknown reasons. Then, the UTV fled the scene after the crash.
 
Moreover, responders pronounced an occupant of the TaoTao ATV, a 12-year-old, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported a second occupant of the vehicle, an 11-year-old, to a local hospital via helicopter.
 
Furthermore, officers described the hit-and-run vehicle as a UTV with a model year between 2019 to 2022.
 
Meanwhile, authorities asked anyone with information about the crash to call Officer Cesar Ramos at the Victorville CHP office at 760-241-1186.
