Marquese Reese Injured in Crash on West Ruthrauff Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ  (February 29, 2024) – On Tuesday night, an 11-month-old baby died and 34-year-old Marquese Reese sustained injuries in a crash on West Ruthrauff Road.

Reportedly, on Tuesday, February 27, at around 8:30 p.m., a car struck a man and a baby near West Ruthrauff Road and North Kain Avenue. 

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that 34-year-old Marquese Reese, who was pushing the 11-month-old in a stroller accompanied by two other adults, was hit. 

Authorities identified the driver as 32-year-old Colton Ortiz. Reese sustained minor injuries, while the baby suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in the hospital. 

The investigation continues, and officials have arrested Ortiz on suspicion of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and aggravated driving under the influence.
