OLYMPIA, WA (January 30, 2019) – A 10-year-old boy that was wandering in the middle of a highway was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday, January 27.

It was shortly after 5:30 p.m. when what is believed to be a silver or cream-colored minivan struck a boy that was in the left lane of northbound Highway 101 near Oyster Bay Road.

The force of the collision sent the boy into the right shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries, according to troopers.

The driver didn’t stop and drove away north.

Investigators have not yet determined why the boy was in the middle of the road, where he came from or if he had been reported missing.

As for the driver, the vague vehicle description is all they have to go off at this point. However, if you have any information that could help identify the driver or the vehicle, please contact the Washington State Patrol.

The roadway was shut down for about three hours during the crash investigation.
