Young Child Dies After Crash on West Cypress in Santa Maria

Santa Maria, CA (October 14, 2024) – The Santa Maria Police are investigating a fatal crash on West Cypress involving a 1-year-old child.

A car struck and killed a young child in Santa Maria over the weekend. The Santa Maria Police Department reported that officers responded to the 600 block of West Cypress just after 1 p.m. on Sunday following reports of a vehicle hitting a 1-year-old child. 

The child was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Officer Robles at (805) 928-3781, ext. 2315, or ext. 1355.
