2-Vehicle Crash in Downtown Los Angeles Traps Motorist Inside Vehicle
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 29, 2019) – One person was trapped inside a vehicle after being involved in a collision on the 101 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning. Authorities have not released further information about the injured party but said one vehicle was visibly damaged.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash, which took place just before 3 a.m. south of Los Angeles Street, involved two vehicles. This prompted the closure of a portion of 101 Freeway which reopened about 40 minutes later.
A video footage showed officials of the Los Angeles Fire Department extricating a motorist from a small silver car that was damaged from the crash. The driver’s door and the car’s roof on the driver’s side were badly dented. Debris from the broken windshield glass covered the roadway.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
