Deadly Long Beach Pedestrian Crash on Pacific Coast Highway and Cherry Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (April 11, 2021) – Saturday morning, a person died in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway and Cherry Avenue.
The incident happened at around 1:20 a.m. when a male victim crossed Pacific Coast Highway, north at Cherry Avenue.
According to the preliminary investigation, the man used a crosswalk on the east side of the intersection. However, he crossed against a red crossing signal.
When the officers arrived, they found a Signal Hill Police Department officer on the scene performing life-saving measures. The Long Beach Fire Department also came to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Anaheim male driver of a 2009 Honda Civic stayed at the scene. The authorities confirmed that he has been cooperative with the investigation.
Also, the authorities do not believe that alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.
