1 Killed, Michael Pryo, Mario Johnson, Gabriel Hartmann, Samuel Fellows, and Kyle Betzer Injured in Woodland Two-Vehicle Crash
WOODLAND, CA (March 27, 2019) – One person was killed and five others were injured in a two-vehicle collision on County Road 98 near Harlan Lane Saturday at around 8:20 p.m. The said area is about three miles south of Woodland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound 2003 Chevrolet traveled into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound 2018 Ford. It was undetermined why the driver of the Chevrolet went the wrong way.
The driver of the Chevrolet, who is from Williams, died at the scene. One occupant of the Ford, 17-year-old Michael Pryo of Esparto, suffered major injuries and had to be taken by an ambulance to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville for treatment. The remaining occupants of the vehicle — 18-year-old Mario Johnson, 16-year-old Gabriel Hartmann, 16-year-old Samuel Fellows, and 17-year-old Kyle Betzer — all of Woodland, sustained minor injuries.
Woodland and Willow Oak firefighters were at the scene within minutes and worked to remove the people from their damaged vehicles. A REACH helicopter was also called to the scene but later waived off.
