Injuries Reported in El Segundo Accident on Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue
EL SEGUNDO, CA (April 9, 2021) – Thursday morning, a person suffered injuries in a pursuit crash on Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue.
According to reports, the chase started around 9:00 a.m. when LA police officers spotted a utility vehicle crash into several parked cars. The initial incident happened on Figueroa Street and 168th Street, not far from Gardena Elementary School.
Moreover, the officers attempted to stop the driver of a city of Carson utility truck. However, he didn’t yield and a chase began.
The pursuit lasted for around 20 minutes until the driver crashed at Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue in El Segundo. The vehicle hit some trees near a restaurant. As a result, the vehicle sustained heavy damages.
Also, one person sustained injuries but didn’t require hospitalization. According to the initial reports, a pedestrian was also hit. However, this lead hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the male driver on suspicion of stealing the truck, evading, and reckless driving. Officials also said that the suspect may have been impaired.
During the investigation, the El Segundo Police advised motorists to avoid southbound PCH from Mariposa to Grand avenues for three hours.
