One Injured in Long Beach Multi-Car Accident
LONG BEACH, CA (March 12, 2019) – A person sustained injuries in a multi-car collision that closed all lanes of the eastbound 91 Freeway near Cherry Avenue on March 11.
The incident which occurred about 7:30 a.m. led CHP to issue a closure on all eastbound lanes. The closure will last until the cleaning up of debris and fuel spillage is done.
According to investigators, the incident might have occurred when a white box truck lost control in the carpool lane. CHP spokesman Jeremy Tolen said that as a result, it struck three other vehicles, including a big-rig tractor and a Kia Sorrento.
“The Kia came to rest facing the wrong way, and all lanes were blocked for a short period of time,” Tolen said. “The Kia driver was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital to get checked out for minor injuries.”
By 8:15 a.m., the authorities lifted the closure on the two lanes of the freeway.
