1 Killed in San Pablo Accident near Richmond Parkway
SAN PABLO, CA (February 17, 2021) – On Tuesday, a fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on San Pablo Avenue near Richmond Parkway.
Moreover, according to authorities, an officer attempted to stop a 1993 Dodge Intrepid. Indeed, police identified it as a stolen vehicle reported on Monday afternoon.
Then, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop, sparking a pursuit at around 8:00 a.m. The pursuit began in the 14500 block of San Pablo Avenue.
Moments later, officers canceled the pursuit due to the reckless driving of the suspect vehicle.
Afterward, authorities learned that the Dodge collided with a southbound 2004 Toyota Matrix. The crash transpired on San Pablo Avenue, just north of the Richmond Parkway.
As a result, responders pronounced the 25-year-old male driver of the Dodge dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported the 34-year-old Hayward driver of the Toyota to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also, the crash closed both directions of San Pablo Avenue until afternoon.
The incident is under the joint investigation of the San Pablo Police Department, Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol.
