1 Killed and 1 Hurt in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Highway 99

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 14, 2021) – On Monday, a person died and one person sustained injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident involving four vehicles happened on Highway 99.

Reports revealed that a southbound Dodge failed to slow down for the stopped traffic. Then, it rear-ended a Honda that was slowing due to stopped traffic.

The force of the crash pushed the Honda to rear-ended a Toyota, which in turn struck the rear of a Ford. All vehicles involved came to rest on the roadway, blocking traffic on the construction bypass lane.

Furthermore, responders pronounced the 72-year-old Van Nuys resident driving the Dodge, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Honda driver to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

Also, the Ford and the Toyota drivers sustained no injuries in the collision.

Our sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the victim.
