1 Dead in Tracy Auto Accident on 5 Freeway
TRACY, CA (September 20, 2020) – Saturday morning, a person died in a tractor-trailer crash on southbound 5 Freeway and Blewett Road.
CHP Spokesperson Joe Whitlock said that the crash between an SUV and a tractor-trailer happened near 132. According to reports, a tractor traveled on the southbound lane. Meanwhile, a small SUV driving at a speed of 80 to 100 mph approached from behind the trailer.
The crash possibly clipped the SUV to the trailer’s left corner. Afterward, the SUV crashed into the center divider. Furthermore, an off duty medical worker tried to administer first aid. However, one of the SUV’s passengers succumbed to injuries at the scene.
As a result, CHP officers detained the SUV driver for suspicion of driving under the influence. Whitlock confirmed that the driver was uninjured in the collision.
During this tragic time, we would like to send our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
