1 Dead in Escondido Bicycle Collision on Cedar Street
ESCONDIDO, CA (March 9, 2020) – A Friday minivan and bicycle collision killed one person on Cedar Street in Escondido.
According to the police reports, the 21-year-old Escondido bicyclist traveled north on Cedar Street. At the same time, a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling east at East Grand Avenue around 8:00 a.m. hit him.
Medical responders attempted to revive the bicycle rider before they declared him dead at the scene, Escondido Police Lt. Chris Leso said.
Meanwhile, Lt. Scott Walters said that the investigators found out that the bicycle rider didn’t yield to a stop sign before the fatal crash. His identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
Moreover, the 39-year-old male driver of the involved vehicle didn’t suffer any injuries.
The crash also led officers to temporarily shut down the road, along with the eastbound lanes of Grand Avenue between Beech Street and Date Street.
We’re sending our condolences to the family and friends of the bicyclist who passed in the crash.
