Border Patrol Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash on Highway 125
CHULA VISTA, CA (April 28, 2019) – One person was killed, and four were injured Thursday, following a pursuit accident on Highway 125. A 29-year-old woman identified as Kyleigh Marsay of Sacramento, was involved.
To begin, authorities received reports of a suspected smuggler fleeing from the U.S. Border Patrol around 7:00 a.m.
The federal agency noted a group of people suspected of illegally entering the United States, according to officers. The suspects were first seen getting into a silver 2002 Acura MDX off Alta Road in Otay Mesa.
Then, when agents tried to pull over the driver, Marsay refused to yield and continued northbound onto Highway 125.
The Acura then skidded out of control near the Olympic Parkway. The vehicle consequently overturned, and rolled over on its side several times before coming to a rest.
Moreover, Polite and three of her passengers — two men and a woman from Mexico aged 18, 21 and 25, were immediately transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital for further treatment. They were reportedly suffering from non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
A 54-year-old male passenger also died on scene, due to the impact of the collision. His name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
Furthermore, Polite was also arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving causing injury or death. More details will eventually be released once available. No more details have bee given at this time.
