1 Dead and 1 Arrested in Redding Pedestrian Accident
REDDING, CA (October 29, 2019) – A person died while authorities arrested a 49-year-old man after a DUI pedestrian accident on Hilltop Drive.
The incident occurred on October 27 in front of the Casino Club at 1885 Hilltop Drive. The suspected drunk driver hit and killed the pedestrian.
At around 1:45 a.m., the City of Redding Police and Fire personnel came to the scene after receiving reports of an auto-pedestrian crash, Redding Police Sgt. Jeff Schmidt said.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they located the pedestrian lying on the road with major traumatic injuries. Meanwhile, they also found 49-year-old Jeffrey Brown and his vehicle nearby.
Responders took the victim to Mercy Medical Center where. However, he later died due to his injuries and died at the hospital.
The Redding PD’s Major Accident Investigation Team also came to the scene and handled the investigation. As a result, the preliminary investigation revealed that Brown showed “signs and symptoms of impairment.”
“The investigation led to his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and 2nd-degree murder,” the Sgt. revealed. After that, the police booked Jeffrey Brown into Shasta County Jail in Redding for those charges, said Schmidt.
