Man Dead and Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 880 near Mowry Avenue
FREMONT, CA (August 24, 2019) A man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 880, Saturday evening. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:36 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a Tesla sedan rear-ended a Ford Ranger pickup truck near Mowry Avenue.
A passenger in the Ranger was ejected as a result of the collision, causing injuries. The drivers of the vehicles also suffered unspecified injuries. Emergency responders transported a man to Stanford Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The other two victims were rushed to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
