Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 49 near East Fork Chowchilla River
MARIPOSA, CA (September 13, 2019) – A man died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 49, Friday. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near East Fork Chowchilla River. Due to unknown reasons, a tractor and a Ford Explorer SUV collided under the Highway 49 bridge.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving efforts, but the victim succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not other injuries were sustained.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Investigators encourage witnesses to cooperate as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information to the public once it becomes available.
