Driver Dead after Car Slams into Trees near Antelope Road
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (July 8, 2019) – One person was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 80, Monday morning. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Antelope Road, at about 5:15 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle went off the road and crashed into nearby trees. A short time later, the car caught fire.
Unfortunately, the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene. Meanwhile, officers temporarily shut down affected lanes for investigation and clearing operations.
CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
