Driver Killed after Fiery Big Rig Crash on Highway 50 near Elks Club Drive
MEYERS, CA (September 7, 2019) – A driver suffered fatal injuries in a fiery big rig crash on Highway 50, late Saturday morning. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:40 AM. Due to unknown reasons, an eastbound big rig carrying an unknown amount of petroleum hit another vehicle going the same direction.
The impact of the collision caused the big rig to overturn and explode. Unfortunately, the big rig driver did not survive the incident. Meanwhile, emergency responders transported the other driver to a hospital with major injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
