1 Dead in Los Angeles Accident on Vernon Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 19, 2020) – Thursday night, a 49-year-old pedestrian died in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Vernon Avenue.
According to LAPD, the pedestrian walked west on Vernon Avenue, just east of Wall Street. However, a light-colored SUV hit him and the impact threw him into the eastbound lanes of Vernon Avenue in Historic South-Central L.A. Afterward, a light-colored 2011 to 2015 Dodge Charger hit him again.
The pedestrian suffered multiple blunt trauma injuries after the two separate crashes. Then, the officers came to the crash scene at about 10:30 p.m.
When medical responders arrived, they transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he died just after arrival. The authorities are withholding his identity due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the authorities are looking for both drivers who didn’t stop to render aid. At this time, the city of L.A. offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspects following a program started in 2015.
