Unidentified Victim Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision on Compton Avenue in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 27, 2020) – Saturday afternoon, an unidentified pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident on 58th Street.
According to the CHP Officer Stephen Brandt, the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., on April 25. Dispatchers arrived on the 58th Street and Compton Avenue intersection, shortly after.
Brandt confirmed that the crash was a hit-and-run. However, it is still unclear whether the involved driver came back to the scene.
The victim who was hit by the alleged hit-and-run driver was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood for further treatment. However, the victim later succumbed to their injuries just before 5:00 p.m.
At this time, authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification. It was also noted that the victim’s gender and age were not immediately disclosed.
Due to the crash, the California Highway Patrol temporarily closed the intersection during the preliminary investigation. However, the roadway has since reopened.
