Dump Truck Catched on Fire in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash near Tolt Hill Road
SAMMAMISH, WA (September 5, 2018) – One person was killed in a fiery collision on Redmon-Fall City Road, late Wednesday morning. His identity was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation revealed that a passenger vehicle veered into the path of an oncoming dump truck near Tolt Hill Road. Due to the impact of the collision, the dump truck caught on fire and sent up thick black smoke into the air.
According to reports, the SUV crossed the centerline and crashed into the oncoming dump truck as it approached from the opposite direction. State troopers, medics, and firefighters arrived at the scene around 11:45 AM after receiving reports of the serious crash. The damaged vehicles completely blocked the roadway, with the truck and its two dump trailers on fire and a smashed-up SUV on the side of the road.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No other injuries were reported in the fiery accident.
Redmond-Fall City Road was closed in both directions after the incident and motorists were warned to avoid the area. No further details have been disclosed, as the authorities continue to investigate.
