1 Dead in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Niles Street and Vale Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 24, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a woman died in a devastating pedestrian crash on Niles Street and Vale Street.

The incident happened at about 11:00 p.m. on Niles Street, just east of Vale Street.

Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian walked northbound, across eastbound lanes of Niles Street, outside of a marked crosswalk.

Then, an eastbound Kia vehicle hit the pedestrian, leaving the woman with major injuries.

Thus, responders took her to Kern Medical. However, by Tuesday morning, at around 2:31 a.m., the woman succumbed to her injuries. Her identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the two occupants in the Kia sustained no injuries.

Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.

Also, the authorities urged any witnesses with information to contact CHP at 661-396-6600.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details became available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
