ELK GROVE, CA (August 10, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a person died in a single-vehicle crash on Sheldon Lake Drive and Grant Line Road.
 
The incident happened at 2:24 a.m. on Sheldon Lake Drive south of Grant Line Road.
 
According to reports, a speeding 2021 Honda drove south on Sunrise Boulevard toward Grant Line Road.
 
Then, as the vehicle approached a bend along Sheldon Lake Drive, the driver failed to negotiate. As a result, they drove off the west roadway edge into a drainage ditch. Then, the vehicle rolled several times until it crashed with a wooden fence and a parked car at 11700 Sheldon Lake Drive.
 
Eventually, the vehicle stopped on its wheels south of the home.
 
At some point, the crash ejected the female passenger who failed to wear her seatbelt. Meanwhile, the driver remained pinned in the driver’s seat until responders arrived.
 
Then, responders took both of them to Kaiser South Hospital with major injuries.
 
However, the driver succumbed to injuries at 4:05 a.m.
 
Furthermore, the authorities believed that alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
