WILMINGTON, CA (April 17, 2022) – Early Saturday, a person died in a hit-and-run crash on North Figueroa Place.
 
The incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. on the 500 block of North Figueroa Place, beneath the 110 Freeway overpass. According to reports, a GMC Envoy SUV veered off the road. Then, the driver crashed through the sidewalk lined with tents, bicycles, and other debris until it stopped.
 
After the crash, the driver fled the crash scene. At this time, the driver remains at large.
 
Meanwhile, first responders found one victim in the wreckage. However, they declared that person dead at the scene. At this time, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
