1 Dead in Cupertino Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 280 near North De Anza Boulevard
CUPERTINO, CA (December 5, 2021) – Saturday morning, a person died in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 280 near North De Anza Boulevard.
The incident involving a motorcycle occurred at 1:19 a.m. Moreover, it happened on Interstate 280 near North De Anza Boulevard on-ramp.
According to reports, a motorcyclist was down on the freeway. Then, one or more vehicles hit him.
“A motorcycle was struck by a vehicle and the vehicle fled the scene,” CHP Officer Ross Lee revealed. “The cyclist fell off the bike.”
“This is being treated as a hit-and-run,” Officer Lee added. “Several vehicles hit the motorcyclist after he had been knocked down.”
Then, the officers blocked the lanes at 1:28 a.m.
“We have not released the identity of the victim,” the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said.
The authorities described the victim as a male. However, his age and residence remain undisclosed.
At 1:32 a.m., the CHP initiated a Sig Alert in connection with the fatal accident.
By 3:00 a.m., some lanes of the freeway reopened. By 4:00 a.m., all lanes have reopened.
“We are asking that anyone who has information about the incident or the initial vehicle that struck the motorcycle rider contact the San Jose office of the CHP,” Lee added.
