BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 1, 2022) – Saturday night, a person died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99 and Cecil Avenue.
 
The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 and Cecil Avenue.
 
According to reports, J. Wenger from Fresno drove an Audi in the fast late at 70 mph. Meanwhile, I. Lopez drove in the second lane from the left at about 75 miles per hour.
 
Then, the male pedestrian attempted to run across the road in a southwesterly direction in front of the Audi.
 
Then, Wenger tried to veer off the way but it struck the pedestrian with its driver’s side mirror. However, the pedestrian fell into Lopez’s path. Then, Lopez struck and killed the pedestrian.
 
Meanwhile, both drivers sustained no injuries in the crash.
 
Also, the crash shut down the northbound lanes of State Route 99 at Cecil Avenue for about 2 hours for the investigation.
 
Furthermore, authorities ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash.
