1 Dead in Tulare County Auto Accident on Highway 99 near Betty Drive
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 18, 2022) – Sunday morning, a person died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 99 near Betty Drive.
The incident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. on Highway 99 near Betty Drive.
According to reports, a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle while driving north on the southbound lane.
Then, the driver approached the freeway after driving the wrong way on Highway 198.
After the crash, one person in the other vehicle succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver sustained major injuries and required hospitalization.
Also, officers confirmed that they will arrest the suspect on multiple felony charges once released from the hospital.
Moreover, they added that DUI played a role in the crash.
Furthermore, officers confirmed that the incident shut down southbound Highway 99 but has since reopened.
