1 Dead in Winchester Auto Accident on Highway 79 and Simpson Road
WINCHESTER, CA (May 4, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, a person died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 79 and Simpson Road in Winchester.
The incident happened around 1:20 p.m. on the southbound side of Highway 79 and Simpson Road near Winchester Farms.
According to reports, the crash involved a BMW sedan and another vehicle. The circumstances that have led up to the crash remain unclear.
One of the vehicles traveled at a high speed and kept going around traffic on the two-lane corridor.
When the Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived within 15 minutes, they located one of the victims trapped in the wreckage. Then, they extricated that person and declared them dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, an ambulance took the other victim to a regional trauma center with moderate to major injuries.
Also, the crash shut down both sides of the highway were shut down. Also, CHP officers diverted traffic onto side streets.
