YUBA COUNTY, CA (February 2, 2023) – Early Monday morning, a person died in a pedestrian crash on Forty Mile Road near State Route 65.
 
The incident happened at about 4:41 a.m. on Forty Mile Road near State Route 65.
 
According to reports, a vehicle struck one of two pedestrians who were walking along a southbound lane of Forty Mile Road. Then, the pedestrian was “thrown into a ditch where he succumbed to his injuries.”
 
Officers confirmed that the pedestrian was a 28-year-old Marysville man walking “on the fog line.”
 
Then, the white sedan driver involved in the crash fled the crash scene without stopping.
 
Meanwhile, CHP confirmed that the vehicle debris left behind belonged to a Mercedes.
 
With the help of the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, they found a white Mercedes near the area.
 
When the CHP determined the registered owner of the vehicle, they went to the owner’s address. However, they did not find the person.
 
Meanwhile, “a short time later,” the owner turned themself into the CHP Yuba-Sutter office.
 
At this time, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
