Pedestrian Pronounced Dead in Caltrain Accident North of Gilroy
Gilroy, CA ( April 17, 2020)– Early Friday morning, one unidentified pedestrian was killed in a Caltrain accident near the Gilroy Caltrain Station.
Authorities responded to the scene after receiving reports at around 6:20 a.m. April 17, which occurred north of the Gilroy Caltrain Station.
According to a SamTrans spokesperson, the victim was on the tracks when the collision happened. However, it is currently unclear why the pedestrian was standing on the tracks at the time.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim. Meanwhile, the three onboard passengers remained uninjured.
Officials closed the surrounding area for an hour, which caused service delays system-wide. The area has since reopened.
Furthermore, the Valley Transportation Authority provided a bus bridge service between Gilroy and the San Jose Diridon stations.
