1 Dead in Stockton Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 5 and French Camp Road

STOCKTON, CA (October 23, 2024) – Sunday night, a woman died in a brutal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 and French Camp Road.

The incident happened at about 7:00 p.m. when a 54-year-old Tracy woman driving a 2002 Toyota went on Interstate 5 approaching French Camp Road. To her left was a 2019 Dodge in the #1 lane, and to her right, was a 2024 Acura, according to law enforcement.

For unknown reasons, the woman made an unsafe lane change, lost control, and entered the #1 lane, hitting the right side of the Dodge. She then swerved into the right lane and collided with the left side of the Acura.

The Toyota continued right, struck a guardrail, went through it, and overturned down an embankment, finally coming to rest on its roof at the French Camp Road on-ramp to southbound I-5. The Acura and Dodge collided, both coming to a stop on the shoulder. The drivers of both vehicles, both men from Stockton, sustained minor injuries.

The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, according to CHP.
