1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Collision on Highway 99
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 3, 2020) – A person died in a big rig and pedestrian collision on Highway 99 on January 30.
The incident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 and 47th Avenue.
The CHP revealed that the pedestrian ran from the right shoulder into the No. 4 lane and got struck by the big rig.
Meanwhile, the big rig’s driver pulled over after the crash. The authorities shut down the lanes of the highway while crews worked at the scene.
By 9:10 p.m., the roadway finally reopened. The identity of the deceased remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
“This is reminder that it is illegal for pedestrians to walk on freeways. It is not only dangerous for the pedestrians, but also for (motorists) traveling on the freeway,” CHP’s South Sacramento office stated.
