CHP Investigates Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 in Yreka
Yreka, CA (December 13, 2024) – A rollover crash on Interstate 5 early Friday morning claimed one life and left three others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The accident occurred at 12:14 a.m. just south of Anderson Grade. CHP officers arrived at the scene and discovered that a 1991 Toyota Previa had rolled over, ejecting one occupant.
Despite rescue efforts, a 61-year-old woman from Woodburn, Oregon, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three other occupants of the vehicle, including a 75-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from Woodburn, Oregon, as well as a 51-year-old man from Gervais, Oregon, sustained injuries.
They were transported to Fairchild Medical Center by Mt. Shasta Ambulance for treatment of minor to major injuries.
Investigators identified icy road conditions as a factor in the crash and reminded drivers to reduce speeds in cold weather and always wear seatbelts.
