1 Driver Dead and 1 Hospitalized After Tragic Crash on IH-37 in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (September 28, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, one person died and one other sustained injuries in a crash on IH-37.

According to preliminary information from the San Antonio Police Department, a wrong-way driver died in the collision on IH-37 in San Antonio.

Officers responded to the scene around 2:24 a.m. on Saturday, September 28. 

Police reported that a white 2011 Dodge Ram was traveling southbound in the main lanes of IH-37 S near the Houston Street exit when a black 2023 Chevy Malibu, driving northbound in the southbound lanes, collided head-on with the Ram.

The driver of the Ram was transported to a local hospital by EMS with serious injuries and is now in stable condition. 

The wrong-way driver, believed to be in their early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The wrong-way driver has not yet been identified, and the crash remains under investigation.
