Passenger Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash near Central Avenue

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (July 7, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday morning and five others were injured following a fiery collision on 91 Freeway.
 
As per reports, the incident started shortly after 8 AM. A witness reported about a person allegedly hotwiring a pickup near a restaurant on Green River Road in Corona. Authorities attempted to catch the suspect but called off the pursuit due to possible danger.
 
At about 8:30 AM, the pickup crashed into another vehicle near the Central Avenue off-ramp after running a red light at a high rate of speed. The impact of the collision caused the pickup to roll over and burst into flames.
 
One of the pickup passengers was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second passenger sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a hospital. Their driver attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by two bystanders. He will be booked into Robert Presley Detention Center after receiving medical treatment.
 
Three people in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized for treatment.
