Chain-Reaction Crash in Fairfield Leaves 1 Dead, 4 Injured
FAIRFIELD, CA (May 09, 2019) — A multi-vehicle crash in Fairfield Wednesday afternoon left one person dead and four others injured. As per reports from the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred on eastbound Highway 12 at Beck Avenue just before 3:30 p.m.
CHP said a van initially rear-ended a Volkswagen that was stopped at a light at Beck Avenue. This incident triggered the chain-reaction crash which involved a total of five vehicles.
The driver of the Volkswagen died in the incident. Officials said the victim was a resident of Suisun City. Taken to the hospital were the driver of the van and another person. Emergency responders treated two other people at the scene of the crash.
It took around two hours to clear the crash site, as per CHP.
