San Jose Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 101 Kills 1, Injures 4 Others
SAN JOSE, CA (August 20, 2019) – A collision on Highway 101 at Highway 85 off-ramp claimed a driver’s life and injured four other people Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. It involved a Kia Forte and a Lexus SUV.
As per the California Highway Patrol, the Kia Forte driver was operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The Kia entered the HOV off-ramp to northbound Highway 85, struck a concrete divider, and then hit the Lexus.
The 20-year-old man driving the Kia died in the crash. His 44-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries. All three occupants of the Lexus also had minor injuries.
The CHP said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
