One Sustained Fatal Injuries in San Marcos Rollover Accident
SAN MARCOS, CA (April 25, 2019) – One person died and three others suffered injuries after pickup truck crash in San Marcos on Sunday, April 21.
It took place in a hilly area west of North Twin Oaks Valley Road and north of Bel Esprit Circle. It is an area where homes border open hillsides crisscrossed by dirt roads. A large hill there is recognized as “P Mountain,” for a large letter “P” located above Palomar College.
Officials responded to the scene around 8 a.m. A 2015 Chevy Silverado overturned on the side of P Mountain. After that, the vehicle rolled down from the top, according to San Marcos Fire Batt. Chief Bill Frederick.
The pickup had four men inside, all in their 20s. The impact of the incident ejected the driver from the vehicle. Officers extricated the three people from the wreckage. Paramedics rushed them to the hospital.
The driver died at the hospital, according to Frederick. The other three men suffered injuries but were expected to survive, according to sheriff’s officials.
Investigators are uncertain what caused the incident. The vehicle might have been driving off-road. It also could have come off a nearby street or driveway. Sheriff’s officials said that alcohol was a suspected factor in the incident.
