Deadly 3-Vehicle Crash on Camino Del Mar in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 30, 2019) — A multi-vehicle crash on Camino Del Mar killed one person and injured two others Monday afternoon.
The fatal incident happened south of Del Mar Heights Road at about 4:00 p.m. according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation indicated that a 76-year-old man was driving a Honda CRV northbound on Camino Del Mar. For inexplicable reasons, the Honda crossed to the southbound lanes. It then sideswiped a Toyota Rav4 and continued southbound where it collided head-on with a Toyota Previa with two occupants.
The driver of the CRV died at the scene. On the other hand, the 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman in the Previa suffered major injuries. First responders took them to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Meanwhile, authorities said the 39-year-old woman driving the Rav4 was uninjured.
Officials have ruled out alcohol or drugs as possible causes of the crash.
Our condolences to the loved ones of the victim.
