One Dead and Two Hurt after Oakley Multi-Car Accident on Delta Road
OAKLEY, CA (October 14, 2019) – One person died and two others sustained injuries in a multi-car crash on Delta Road on Saturday, October 12.
According to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials, the incident happened at around 11:26 p.m. on the 200 block of Delta Road.
The initial investigation determined that the driver of an Infiniti sedan tried to pass on the left. Then it collided into a Ford truck that was making a left turn into a residence. After that, the Infiniti then careened into a parked vehicle, California Highway Patrol said.
The 22-year-old male driver of the Infiniti, who did not wear a seat belt, died from the incident. His female passenger, 21, suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics airlifted her to the John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek.
The driver of the truck had minor injuries. Emergency personnel rushed the driver to the Kaiser hospital in Antioch and later released him.
It was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. However, speed is a contributing factor, according to officials.
Officials shut down Delta Road while they cleared the debris and investigated the scene. They reopened the roadway around 4 a.m.
