Woman Dead after Crash on Highway 166 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (December 19, 2023) – A rollover crash on Highway 166 just west of New Cuyama on Monday resulted in the death of a Bakersfield woman and injuries to two others. 

The incident occurred at approximately 4:24 p.m., slightly east of Aliso Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Express traveling eastbound on the highway drifted off the road and onto the right shoulder for unknown reasons. 

The 19-year-old female driver then lost control, leading the vehicle to collide with a dirt embankment before overturning and landing on its roof on the asphalt.

Both the driver and an undisclosed-aged male passenger were transported to the hospital to receive treatment for major injuries. 

Unfortunately, a 23-year-old woman lost her life in the crash, and her identity has not been released. 

All three individuals involved were residents of Bakersfield.
