Pickup Truck and Sedan Involved in Fatal Broadside Crash in Woodland
WOODLAND, CA (June 19, 2019) – One person was killed and another one was seriously injured following a broadside crash Wednesday morning in Woodland.
The crash happened around 11:25 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 102 and County Road 27.
Woodland Area CHP officers were dispatched to the scene along with an ambulance unit. Upon arrival, they located a 2017 Ford F-250 pulling a travel trailer and a 2011 Honda Accord.
A preliminary investigation revealed the Honda sedan was traveling eastbound on County Road 27 when it pulled directly into the path of the Ford pickup truck, which was heading northbound on County Road 102.
Because the Honda did not properly clear the intersection of the two roads, a broadside-type traffic collision occurred.
The driver of the Honda, a Woodland resident, was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville, where they later succumbed to injuries. Their name has not yet been released.
The passenger of the Honda, also a Woodland resident, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.
All parties were wearing their seat belts.
Further investigation is underway.
