Fiery Explosion Involving 3 Vehicles on Highway 152 in Gilroy Kills One and Sends Another Hospital
GILROY, CA (December 21, 2019) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured following a three-car fiery crash late Saturday afternoon in Gilroy.
The crash happened around 5:11 p.m. on Highway 152, just west of Lover’s Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Jaguar was heading westbound at a high-rate of speed when it lost control and veered into the wrong lane. It then collided with a white GMC van that was traveling eastbound. The Jaguar continued on and hit a tractor trailer.
Both the Jaguar and the GMC burst into flames. Passing motorists rushed to pull the driver of the van out of the vehicle. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he is suffering from major internal injuries.
The unidentified driver of the Jaguar died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
