1 Male Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident on San Pablo Avenue in Hercules
Hercules, CA (April 6, 2020) – Early Sunday morning, one man was killed while another was severely injured in a DUI crash on San Pablo Avenue.
Officers first received reports of the collision around 2:00 a.m. First responders arrived on the westbound lanes of San Pablo Avenue shortly after.
The car was found wrapped around a tree, about 20 feet off west side of the road. A man was found laying in the center median with multiple burns and a compound fracture to his left leg.
He was later airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment of his injuries. Medics have currently listed him in stable condition.
Furthermore, authorities also say the 28-year-old male driver was the registered owner of the car. Officers also confirmed a smell of alcohol coming from him. However, they did not disclose his identity.
Meanwhile, Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department crews were extinguishing the burning car where they found the body of the other man in the front passenger seat.
However, Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has yet to determine the deceased man’s identity.
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
