24-Year-Old Male Pronounced Dead after Escondido Crash near Via Rancho Parkway
ESCONDIDO, CA (March 4, 2020) – A man was killed and a woman sustained serious injuries in a DUI car collision on 15 Freeway.
The incident happened just before 12:30 a.m., when a northbound gold Lexus SUV lost control for unknown reasons. Dispatchers arrived shortly after.
An SUV left the freeway, went down an embankment, rolled over and then back onto the lanes. There, it was eventually struck by a big-rig.
Both occupants inside the SUV were not wearing seat belts, and they were ejected onto the roadway as a result.
A 24-year-old male from Florida was fatally struck by an oncoming Chevrolet Cruze. However, his identity remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old San Diego woman was transported to Palomar Medical Center for further treatment of major injuries. Her current condition has not yet been updated.
As of this time, it is still unclear who drove the vehicle among the two. However, more information will be released once available. In addition, officers suspect intoxication as a factor in the collision.
