Deadly Placerville Solo-Vehicle Crash on Highway 49 near Lauren Lane
PLACERVILLE, CA (October 15, 2019) — A man lost his life while another person suffered injuries in a solo vehicle crash on Highway 49 near Lauren Lane Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:20 a.m. It involved a 63-year-old man driving a 2009 Ford Ranger, with a 19-year-old man as a passenger. Both are from El Dorado Hills.
An investigation indicated that the Ford was going between 45 and 50 miles per hour while southbound on Highway 49. It then crossed over the northbound shoulder into a steep embankment. The driver’s side of the Ford subsequently crashed into an oak tree.
First responders pulled out the driver from the mangled vehicle. They airlifted him to Sutter-Roseville Hospital where he died from his injuries.
On the other hand, the passenger sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital.
As to what caused the truck to cross the shoulder is still being determined in an ongoing investigation. The officers ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible causes.
Our sincerest condolences to the loved ones of the victim. And to the injured person, we wish them a swift and complete recovery.
