Deadly Bonsall Collision on Highway 76 at East Vista Way
BONSALL, CA (September 03, 2019) – A 64-year-old man died in a collision on Highway 76 at East Vista Way early Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 3:35 a.m. It involved Jeep Wrangler and a Nissan Sentra.
A Nissan Sentra was westbound on Highway 76 when it turned from the left-turn lane onto southbound East Vista Way. That put the vehicle into the path of the Jeep traveling eastbound on the highway. The Jeep then broadsided the Nissan.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles. The 64-year-old Oceanside man driving the Nissan died at the scene. On the other hand, the 36-year-old Temecula man driving the Jeep complained of pain. However, his injuries were not serious.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Jeep driver was not impaired at the time of the crash. A coroner will examine whether the Nissan driver was.
The officials closed the eastbound lanes at the crash site for about two hours. The accident remains under investigation.
