1 Killed and 1 Injured in Car Crash on National Trails Highway and Air Expressway [Victorville, CA]

1 Dead and 1 Hurt in Victorville Car Accident

VICTORVILLE, CA (January 18, 2019) — A man who suffered critical injuries in a collision on January 16 has succumbed from his injuries.

It was around 11:05 p.m. when the deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and AMR came to respond to a two-vehicle collision on National Trails Highway, south of Air Expressway.

“Upon arrival, deputies determined that a gray 2010 Honda Civic was traveling north on National Trails Highway and a white, 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 was traveling south on National Trails Highway,” officials stated.

The deputies’ investigation revealed that the road was wet due to the train and for unidentified reasons, the Honda was unable to control while taking the curve in the roadway and drove across the double yellow lines crashing with the Dodge leaving major damage to both vehicles.

“[The] gray Honda Civic flew past me about 90 mph and flipped over and hit a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction,” Michael Spanos who witnessed the crash added.

The Honda driver was airlifted to a hospital where he later died. Meanwhile, the Dodge driver sustained minor injuries that didn’t need any immediate medical treatment.

The crash is still being investigated.

Meanwhile, the National Trails Highway, north the 15 Freeway and south of Air Expressway, was shut down in both directions for multiple hours while investigators worked at the scene.
